California on February 14, 1809. At age 27 he was appointed Governor of California. Governor Alvarado was a political
foe of Pio Pico of Southern California.

Beside visiting the historic home of Pio Pico, the last Mexican Governor of California, visitors have a chance to
participate in become Californios. The youths are dressed up to represent the era, and given duties to perform.
The youths learn the history of California from a different viewpoint, not just from reading a book.
